Wrap a Child in Love: Quilt Donation Drive for Kids in Foster Care
Quilters, we have a beautiful opportunity to share the warmth, love, and comfort of a handmade quilt with children who need it most!
I’m thrilled to be participating in a quilt donation drive hosted by Stacey Lee that aims to provide quilts to children in foster care, and I’d love for you to join me.
As quilters, many of us have extra quilts tucked away—projects we made for fun, test pieces, or even finished quilts that haven’t yet found their home. Instead of letting them sit on a shelf, why not put them in the hands of a child who could use the comfort and security of something made with love?

If you need a resource for quick quilt patterns I love this post by Sharon Holland HERE, and this one by Amy Smart.
Why Quilts Matter for Children in Foster Care
Foster care can be a challenging journey for children, often filled with uncertainty and transitions. A quilt is more than just a blanket; it’s a source of warmth, security, and love. It’s a tangible reminder that someone cares about them. Receiving something handmade, something uniquely theirs, can make all the difference in helping a child feel seen and valued.
How You Can Help
They are accepting quilt donations until May, and here are the sizes needed:
-
Big Kids: 50″ x 50″ (slight variations accepted)
-
Baby Quilts: 30″ x 40″ (slight variations accepted)
Whether you have a finished quilt ready to donate or are inspired to make one, every contribution makes an impact. If you love foundation paper piecing, this is a great opportunity to incorporate some of your favorite designs into a meaningful project.
Join Me in Spreading Love
I’d love to see our quilting community come together to make a difference. If you’re able to donate, or even help spread the word, it would mean so much. Let’s use our skills and passion to bring joy and comfort to children in foster care—one quilt at a time.

A favorite quilt pattern of mine that can be made really quickly is my Cottonwoods quilt. Just omit the EPP Hexie flowers! This quilt is a fun one to show off your favorite prints that would be great for these children in need. Find the pattern here.
